Excel Fire Ltd is a growing, third\-party accredited fire safety contractor delivering passive and active fire protection across London, the Home Counties and the Midlands. We are FIRAS and BM TRADA Q\-Mark certified, Constructionline Gold, CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, and deliver fire door installation, inspection and maintenance, fire stopping and compartmentation, cavity barriers, intumescent coatings, dry lining, fire alarms, emergency lighting and lightning protection.
As part of the wider Excel group, which also covers electrical works and roofing and construction through Excel Exteriors, we are looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to drive the next stage of our growth.
The Role
This is a key, commercially focused position reporting to senior management. You'll be responsible for winning new work, developing long term client relationships and building a strong pipeline across the fire protection, M\&E and construction sectors. The role is hybrid, split between our main office in Sawbridgeworth, client meetings and site visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, target and secure new business with main contractors, housing associations, local authorities, facilities management companies and property managing agents
- Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline and CRM, with regular reporting on opportunities, conversion and forecasts
- Develop existing client accounts to increase repeat work and cross\-sell across fire, M\&E and roofing/construction services
- Attend site meetings and surveys with clients to understand project requirements and scope opportunities
- Work closely with the estimating, operations and contracts teams to produce competitive, accurate tenders and quotations
- Get Excel Fire onto approved contractor frameworks and supply chains, including PQQs and tender submissions
- Represent the company at industry events, networking functions and client presentations
- Monitor market trends, legislation (including the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Regulations) and competitor activity
- Proven business development or sales experience within the active and passive fire protection industry (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of M\&E services and construction and/or roofing (essential)
- An established network of contacts with main contractors, housing providers, local authorities or FM companies
- Confident understanding of fire doors, fire stopping, compartmentation and life safety systems
- Experience with tenders, frameworks and PQQs
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Self\-motivated, target\-driven and comfortable working independently across office and site
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- CSCS card and relevant industry qualifications (desirable)
