About the Role
Cleverchefs are looking for an experienced and ambitious Business Development Manager to join our growing contract catering business.
We provide high\-quality catering services across the Education and Business \& Industry (B\&I) sectors, and this is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused sales professional to play a key role in our continued growth.
You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with prospective clients and successfully converting opportunities into profitable catering contracts.
This role would suit someone who is confident engaging with senior decision\-makers, enjoys winning new business and understands the contract catering or wider hospitality/facilities management environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across Education and B\&I.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective clients.
- Generate leads through networking, referrals, research, industry contacts and proactive sales activity.
- Develop relationships with key decision\-makers and procurement teams.
- Building relationships with procurement consultants \& networking
- Manage the full sales process from initial enquiry through to contract award.
- Lead and coordinate tender, PQQ, RFI and proposal submissions.
- Work closely with operations, culinary, finance and senior management teams to develop compelling client solutions.
- Prepare and deliver engaging client presentations and proposals.
- Negotiate commercial terms within agreed parameters.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and pipeline reporting.
- Ensure successful handover of new contracts to the operational/mobilisation team.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
- Achieve agreed new business, revenue and margin targets.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in business development or sales, preferably within contract catering, hospitality, facilities management or another B2B service environment.
- A demonstrable track record of winning new business.
- Experience managing tenders and competitive procurement processes.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of pricing and profitability.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- The confidence to build relationships with senior stakeholders and decision\-makers.
- A proactive and entrepreneurial approach to generating new opportunities.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple sales opportunities at different stages.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
