Job Description: Business Development And Finance Manager

This full\-time role for an independent petrol station and convenience retailer combines commercial growth with rigorous financial control. The position requires a hands\-on manager to optimize site profitability, secure new revenue streams, and oversee daily financial operations.

Job Summary

The Business Development And Finance Manager will drive revenue growth through fuel contract optimization, convenience store supplier negotiations, and new site services, while maintaining absolute oversight of accounting, cash flow, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, this role will lead the strategic assessment and financial analysis of new site acquisitions to expand the business portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control And Compliance

  • Prepare financial statements, monthly management accounts, and profit\-and\-loss (P\&L) reports.

  • Oversight of payroll, VAT filings, and annual statutory accounting requirements.

  • Negotiate Funding, liaise with banks and financial institutions to arrange optimal debt, credit, and equipment leasing packages

  • Bank Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for corporate banking partners, lenders, and Lessors
Business Development And Acquisition Strategy
  • Identify acquisition targets including independent forecourts, underperforming sites, or land for development.

  • Conduct financial due diligence on potential acquisition targets to assess viability and risks.

  • Build financial models to forecast return on investment (ROI) and payback periods for new sites.

  • Negotiate supplier contracts for shop inventory, valeting services, and food\-to\-go partners.

  • Optimize fuel margins by tracking wholesale oil markets and local competitor pricing.

  • Identify revenue streams such as electric vehicle (EV) charging installations or parcel drop\-offs.

  • Develop local marketing campaigns and business\-to\-business (B2B) fleet fuel card accounts.
Job Requirements

Experience And Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in retail accounting, finance, or retail management with exposure to business valuation or M\&A.

  • Industry Knowledge: Direct experience in petrol retailing, convenience store management, or FMCG logistics.

  • Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent professional experience).
Key Skills
  • Strong financial modelling skills to project cash flows and value potential acquisitions.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (such as Xero or QuickBooks) and specialized forecourt back\-office systems.

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills for margin modelling and financial forecasting.

  • Strong negotiation skills with commercial property brokers, independent wholesalers, and fuel distributors.
Pay: £38,000\.00\-£53,000\.00 per year
