About Hensol Castle Distillery

Hensol Castle Distillery crafts premium Welsh spirits with a growing footprint across on\-trade, wholesale and retail. As we enter a critical growth phase, we are focused on delivering profitable, sustainable expansion — particularly within higher\-margin on\-trade channels.

We are seeking a driven and commercially focused Business Development Executive to support the next phase of growth. This is a hands\-on, field\-based role focused on identifying, targeting and converting new on\-trade and independent retail customers.

The Mission

To physically get the product into the market. You are the engine that turns interest into orders.

The Role

You will execute a clearly defined sales strategy and contribute directly to profitable growth. This is a true new business role requiring daily prospecting, strong conversion skills, and disciplined pipeline management.

Key focus areas include:

  • Proactive prospecting and structured daily outreach

  • Securing new listings and house pours

  • Negotiating profitable commercial terms

  • Driving rate of sale within accounts

  • Delivering measurable gross profit growth
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and target priority on\-trade groups and independents

  • Conduct daily field prospecting activity (calls, visits, outreach)

  • Convert opportunities into long\-term trading accounts

  • Secure pouring rights and range depth within accounts

  • Support and activate wholesale listings to drive pull\-through demand

  • Run tastings, staff colleague training and activation events

  • Represent the distillery at trade shows and industry events, as well as consumer events, acting as an ambassador for the brand and driving direct retail sales

  • Accurately record all prospecting activity, meetings and account interactions within the company CRM system

  • Maintain a clean, structured and up\-to\-date sales pipeline

  • Track conversion rates from prospect to listing and monitor rate of sale

  • Use CRM data to inform territory planning and prioritisation

  • Deliver against defined revenue and gross profit targets

  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management and performance reporting
What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)
  • Growth in profitable on\-trade listings

  • High conversion rate from prospect to trading account

  • Clear gross profit contribution exceeding salary cost

  • Expansion of premium pouring accounts

  • Improved SKU rate of sale across the territory
About You
  • Proven field sales experience (spirits or premium drinks preferred)

  • Confident in cold prospecting and handling rejection

  • Commercially aware with understanding of margin and profitability

  • Self\-motivated, organised and target\-driven

  • Strong relationship\-building and negotiation skills

  • Full UK driving license
Experience:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in drinks sales, FMCG or on\-trade field sales, willing to look at candidates with transferable skills build built within the hospitality industry

Experience working with wholesalers or route\-to\-market partners is desirable

Demonstrable proven track record of winning new business
