Business Development Executive
Great at sales but tired of selling something you don’t believe in?
Here’s your chance to sell technology that genuinely helps the NHS and healthcare providers fix one of their biggest headaches — staffing — and to be paid uncapped for doing it well.
We’re AppLocum. We’re transforming how healthcare organisations hire, by combining a full\-service staffing agency with smart, modern workforce technology. We’re growing fast, and we’re looking for one more sharp, hungry Business Development Executive to help us scale — someone who works smart, builds trust quickly, and loves the feeling of getting a deal over the line.
The Opportunity
This is a real seat\-at\-the\-table role in a high\-growth business, not a faceless dialling factory. You’ll own new business across the healthcare sector — finding prospects, opening doors, running conversations, and driving adoption of our tech\-enabled workforce platform alongside our traditional placement services.
You’ll work directly with senior leaders, learn fast, and see the impact of your work in the pipeline and in your commission. If you’re ambitious and want a clear runway to grow, this is built for you.
Who You Are
We don’t just want someone who “hits the phones.” We want someone with genuine craft. You probably recognise yourself in most of these:
- Smart, and you work smart. You use the tools available — AI, automation, CRM, whatever gets results — to do more with less. You believe working hard and working clever aren’t a trade\-off.
- Emotionally intelligent. You read people and rooms well. You know when to push, when to listen, and when to back off — and clients trust you because of it.
- Articulate. You explain things clearly and persuasively, in writing and on a call. People understand exactly what you mean and why it matters.
- People\-centric. Relationships come first. You build rapport fast and people genuinely enjoy dealing with you.
- Able to pivot and engage. You can steer a conversation, handle the unexpected, reframe an objection, and guide a prospect towards “yes” — you get deals done.
- Hungry and motivated. You’ve got a true sales mindset and you understand that graft comes hand in hand with craft. You want to win, and you’re willing to put in the work to do it.
- Tech savvy. You’re comfortable with technology and excited to sell it. Most of what you’ll be selling is a smart, tech\-enabled workforce solution, so you need to “get” the product and speak to its value with confidence.
- Identify and engage prospective clients across the healthcare sector
- Run outbound calls, emails and follow\-ups to open new opportunities
- Understand client challenges and present the right solution — tech platform and placement services
- Build and protect strong, long\-term client relationships
- Support onboarding and adoption of our self\-management platform
- Manage a healthy pipeline and own the journey from first contact to close
- Grow existing accounts and increase service usage
- Keep CRM records accurate and use data to sharpen your approach
- Work towards — and beyond — monthly sales targets
Experience in sales, recruitment, SaaS or healthcare is a bonus — but attitude, intelligence and hunger matter more to us than a perfect CV. If you’ve got the traits above, we want to hear from you.
What’s In It For You
- Uncapped commission. Your earning potential is genuinely in your own hands — the better you perform, the more you take home.
- Real progression. We’re scaling, which means genuine room to grow your career, fast.
- Work that matters. You’ll sell technology that helps the NHS and providers deliver better care — not vapourware.
- A team that backs you. Supportive, ambitious and collaborative — your contribution gets noticed here.
- Practical perks. Company pension, employee discount, free on\-site parking and a town\-centre location with excellent transport links.
