Cardiff and Vale College are looking to appoint a Business Development Consultant, based at our City Centre Campus, with the expectation to work across other campuses as required.

The Role

As a Business Development Consultant, you will play a key role in driving commercial activity and income generation across the College. You will work closely with employers to identify skills and training needs, building strong relationships and delivering tailored solutions that support workforce development.

You will be responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of employer relationships, acting as a key point of contact and trusted advisor. Working collaboratively with the Head of Business Development, Business Development Team, and Funded Programmes and Bids Team, you will actively contribute to pitching for new business and promoting the College’s full range of services.

The role also involves attending networking events and conferences to represent the College, as well as maintaining accurate records of sales activity and leads through the CRM system.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with employers and key stakeholders


• Identify employer skills and training needs and provide appropriate solutions


• Act as the key point of contact and account manager for a designated client base


• Work collaboratively to pitch for new business, promoting the College’s full offer


• Represent the College at networking events and industry conferences


• Record, track and manage business development activity using the CRM system


• Contribute to growing employer engagement, commercial income and apprenticeship provision

About You

You will have a proven track record in generating commercial income, ideally within a fast\-paced business development or sales environment. You will be confident in building and maintaining relationships, both internally and externally, and have a strong understanding of networking and stakeholder engagement.

You will be highly motivated, target\-driven, and able to identify and develop opportunities that support both employer needs and organisational growth. A high standard of education is essential, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills.

Welsh language skills are not essential but would be desirable for this role.
