Role Overview
As a Media Business Analyst, you will be instrumental in modernizing multimedia production and content distribution workflows. Collaborating with journalists, documentary filmmakers, editorial leadership, and technical teams, you will identify operational bottlenecks, define requirements for new technologies, and implement solutions that enhance the speed and efficiency of content delivery to audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Translate complex editorial and business needs into technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for Agile development teams. Document existing and future content supply chains.
- Workflow Optimization & Media Supply Chain: Analyze and streamline multimedia production pipelines, ensuring rapid, secure, and compliant distribution of content.
- Stakeholder Management & Training: Serve as the primary liaison between creative and technical teams, leading workshops and managing change for new production tools and systems.
- System Implementation & Testing: Support the deployment and integration of Production Asset Management (PAM), Media Asset Management (MAM), and Content Management Solutions (CMS), overseeing User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Domain Expertise: 5-7 years in Business Analysis within news, broadcasting, streaming, or documentary production.
- Media Workflows: Comprehensive knowledge of the multimedia content supply chain, including cloud storage workflows, video editing software, and distribution technologies.
- Analytical Tools: Proficiency in business process modeling (e.g., BPMN) and Agile tracking tools (e.g., Asana, GitHub).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Media Technology, Journalism, Computer Science, or related field.
- Preferred certifications: CBAP, BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis, or Agile/Scrum certifications.
- Background in media, publishing, or content-led organisations.
- Knowledge of rights management, syndication, or contributor workflows.
- Experience with finance/payroll systems or compliance-heavy environments.
- Detail-oriented, curious, and investigative.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proactive and organised, comfortable managing multiple projects and working through ambiguity.
