Support Worker Opportunity – Join a Specialist Care Team Supporting a Young Adult
We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and highly motivated Support Workers to join a specialist care package for a bright and determined 23\-year\-old who returned home in July after studying at College in Cheltenham.
About the client
The client is a highly intelligent young man living with cerebral palsy (CP). He is non\-verbal and uses an electric wheelchair for mobility. The client communicates effectively using his eye\-gaze iPad and enjoys meaningful interaction with those around him. He requires support with PEG feeding and all aspects of personal care.
Home Environment
The client lives with his parents in a fully adapted family home, which includes excellent facilities such as a hydrotherapy pool. His parents are very involved in his care and are passionate about supporting the client to live as independently as possible.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dedicated care team delivering high\-quality, person\-centred support. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting with personal care and daily living activities
- Managing PEG feeding
- Assisting client in a hydrotherapy pool
- Facilitating communication using assistive technology
- Promoting independence and engagement in daily life
- Working collaboratively with family and the wider care team
We are only looking for someone to cover one 14 hour shift a week, with the possibility of extra hours when there is annual leave and sick leave.
Monday \- Sunday 08:00 \- 22:00
Training \& Transition
The client transitioned home in July and is adjusting to being home and no longer in college. We are looking for individuals to join the current team who assisted with the transition and do 1 day a week with more hours offered for annual and sick leave. The aim is to be patient with the client and ensure his transition is as smooth and supportive as possible.
About You
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience in complex care (preferred but not essential with the right attitude)
- Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Are committed to delivering the highest standards of care
- Are reliable, proactive, and compassionate
- A full UK driving license
- Prior experience with hoists and moving and handling practices
