Bookkeeper & Finance Administrator
Overview
Tidworth Golf Club is seeking a professional, organised and proactive Bookkeeper / Finance Administrator to play a key role in supporting the financial administration of our thriving members' golf club in Wiltshire.
This is a fully office\-based position due to the operational requirements, as such the successful candidate will be expected to work primarily from the Club's offices during normal working hours. Homeworking is not considered suitable for this position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day\-to\-day accounting and administrative processes, and providing an important level of independent checking and reconciliation across several areas of the Club's operations. Working closely with the General Manager and departmental managers, they will help ensure the continued financial integrity and smooth running of the Club.
This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a methodical approach to financial administration. The successful applicant will take pride in maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism while supporting colleagues, members and key stakeholders.

The Club is looking for an individual who can build upon the excellent foundations established by the current post\-holder and help support the Club's continued development through robust financial administration, accurate reporting and effective financial controls.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate financial records for all Club income, expenditure, receipts and payments.
- Processing purchase invoices, supplier payments and maintaining the purchase ledger.
- Managing accounts receivable activities, including subscriptions, visitor income, society bookings and other Club income streams.
- Reconciling bank accounts, merchant service providers, card payment systems and departmental income.
- Monitoring and reconciling income received on behalf of the Club and third\-party operators, including arranging settlement payments and raising invoices where appropriate.
- Administering monthly payroll, pension contributions, statutory payments and related HMRC requirements.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns and maintaining supporting records to ensure compliance with HMRC requirements.
- Monitoring cash balances, managing cash movements between accounts and supporting cashflow forecasting.
- Maintaining the Club's fixed asset register and ensuring capital expenditure is accurately recorded.
- Producing management information, financial reports and supporting documentation to assist decision\-making.
- Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and monthly financial reviews.
- Preparing reconciliations, schedules and supporting documentation for year\-end accounts and liaising with the Club's accountants.
- Supporting financial governance, internal controls, statutory compliance and record retention requirements.
- Providing professional support to members, suppliers, colleagues and external stakeholders on finance\-related matters and assisting with general office enquiries where required.
- Have previous bookkeeping, finance administration, finance officer or assistant accountant experience.
- Hold an AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent bookkeeping qualification), with AAT Level 4 desirable.
- Have experience maintaining accounting records through to trial balance and year\-end accountant handover.
- Have practical experience of bank reconciliations, purchase ledger, sales ledger, VAT returns and payroll processing.
- Be proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Possess excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Be able to work independently, prioritise competing deadlines and manage workloads effectively.
- Be comfortable handling confidential financial and employee information.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiencies.
- Ideally have experience using Sage Accounting, Sage Payroll, Intelligent Golf or similar systems golf industry systems.
- Experience within a golf club, membership organisation or hospitality environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Part\-time position (20 hours per week), office based.
- Salary: £16,286 per annum.
