Band 3 Peer Support Worker - 18-25 Pathway

The role of a Peer Support Worker (PSW) has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of mental health challenges, or experience of caring for a close friend or close family member experiencing mental health challenges. Through sharing wisdom from their own experiences, peer support workers will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. They make a positive contribution to the lives of others by using their lived experience.

The Peer Support Worker (PSW) will provide one\-to\-one and group\-based peer support to young adults aged 18–25 within the Solihull Pathway, drawing on their own lived experience of mental health challenges to inspire hope, promote recovery and support self\-determination. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, the PSW will build trusting relationships based on mutuality and support individuals to identify and achieve their personal recovery goals.

The post holder will support young adults through key life transitions, including education, employment, housing, relationships and independent living, helping them to access community resources and develop meaningful social connections. They will work collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations to deliver recovery\-focused, person\-centred support and contribute a lived experience perspective to service development.

The PSW will champion the values of peer support, promote inclusion and recovery\-oriented practice, maintain accurate records, participate in supervision and continuous professional development, and contribute to the ongoing development of the 18–25 Pathway through co\-production, innovation and service improvement.
