About Landmark Systems
Landmark Systems has been providing specialist accounting and business management software to UK farmers for over 39 years. Our KEYPrime desktop software is trusted by thousands of farms across the country. We’re a focused team of around 40 people, backed by a larger European agricultural software group — the stability of an established, profitable business with the energy of a product being built afresh. We win on agricultural depth: VAT and Making Tax Digital, farm and estate structures, the real working lives of the businesses we serve.
The Opportunity
Currently our automated testing is thin — there’s a modest Selenium regression suite, that’s limited and needs rebuilding, no proper end\-to\-end or API automation above the unit tests.
Responsibilities, (but not limited to)
· Design, build and own the automated test framework for KEYinfinity (end\-to\-end, API and regression).
· Get automated suites running on every build in our CI/CD pipeline, with clear pass/fail signals.
· Grow automated coverage of the critical journeys — VAT returns, bank reconciliation, MTD submission, invoicing, payments, permissions — one feature area at a time.
· Work with the Product Manager to write testable acceptance criteria (Given / When / Then) before development starts.
· Coach developers to build quality in and write their own automated tests.
· Help define the shared release exit criteria and keep quality evidence current and visible.
Key Responsibilities
· Own the hard technical decisions end to end — multi\-tenancy, data modelling, platform trade\-offs.
· Set the technical direction on the problems that matter most and bring the rest of the team with you.
· Elevate the performance of those around you : coaching senior engineers, strengthening how we design, review and ship.
· Lead the solution architecture conversations — bringing engineering, product and domain experts into the room and guiding them to decisions everyone trusts.
· Work pragmatically inside a vendor platform we don’t fully control — pushing it where it helps, working around it where it doesn’t.
· Be the person who gets to the bottom of the hard problems — the intermittent, cross\-layer, “nobody knows why” bugs that span generated code, data, tenancy and infrastructure.
· Build AI\-native workflows into both how we engineer and what our customers use.
Essential Requirements
· Strong hands\-on test automation engineering — you write test code, not just click through UIs.
· Real experience with a modern E2E/UI automation framework (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar) and API test automation (REST).
· Solid coding ability in TypeScript/JavaScript and/or C\# (.NET) — enough to build and maintain a framework other people will rely on.
· Experience wiring automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps ideal), with Git and version control second nature.
· A shift\-left mindset — you know good testing starts at requirements, and you can turn vague stories into testable acceptance criteria.
· The temperament of a quality enabler, not a gatekeeper — you make others better rather than being the bottleneck.
· Sound grasp of test design technique (equivalence partitioning, boundary values, state transitions) applied through automation.
Desirable Requirements
· Experience testing multi\-tenant SaaS, BDD tooling (Reqnroll/SpecFlow/Cucumber)
· Testing against Azure and Kubernetes environments
· Accounting, fintech or agri\-tech domain exposure
· An interest in how AI\-generated code changes what testing needs to be.
Our Stack
Vue 3 · TypeScript · .NET / C\# · a model\-driven platform generating parts of the app · PostgreSQL · multi\-tenant SaaS · Azure · Kubernetes · Azure DevOps CI/CD. Test tooling today: Jest (frontend units), xUnit (backend) and a modest Selenium regression suite \- the automation framework proper is yours to build, and the tooling choice is open.
Why join us
· A rare chance to build the automation capability properly — you own it end to end, with a clean mandate to set it up right rather than patch what’s there.
· Real influence on how our quality Accounting and Property Management product moves to the cloud.
· A small, capable team where a QA engineer’s work is visible and valued, not siloed.
· Backing from a larger European agricultural software group, and hybrid working from our Pulborough Office.
