ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR – Transport

We are seeking an ambitious and experienced transport professional at a senior level to help us with project delivery and business growth.

Purpose \& Scope of the Role

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced person, educated to degree level (or other equivalent qualification) in a relevant numerate subject, and ideally, a member of a relevant professional body.

You will be a senior member of our team with the responsibility for generating work opportunities, and leading and overseeing the project performance of staff within the team. You will have a key role in London and the South of England and will therefore be expected to lead on winning new business in private development and/or transport related public sectors with new clients and nurture relationships with our existing clients. You will work independently and proactively, ensuring work is won and delivered to the relevant technical and planning standards, required quality, programme and budget. The role includes client\-facing project and design management, responsibility for transport planning deliverables, project reporting and input into client and internal meetings.

Your Impact in this position

You will take responsibility for business development and work generation, managing project progress, quality and finances while helping coordinate the transport planning inputs to built environment projects. As a substantially experienced professional, you will instruct, supervise and check transport planning input from internal teams and external sub\-consultants, while mentoring colleagues in transport planning, budget and project management.

Core Capabilities

Transport Planning \& Technical Knowledge

• Chartered transport professional


• Significant experience in the delivery of transport studies / schemes for private and/or public sector organisations within London and / or the South of England.

• Lead the transport planning inputs to local, regional and nationally important infrastructure and development projects within collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.

• Bring an extensive and well developed contact list


• Develop and grow client relationships leading to work winning opportunities and sustainable revenue growth


• Manage client relationships, meetings, project reporting, progress, quality and finances, with knowledge of Professional and Engineering Contracts.

• Provide guidance, supervision and mentoring to team members, communicating effectively and adapting to challenging and changing project priorities.

You should hold a degree or Masters in a relevant subject (e.g., civil engineering, transport planning). Ideally Chartered professional status with CILT, ICE or CIHT is preferred. Extensive experience of producing and managing transport planning inputs into development projects and major National Highways or County Council\-led projects. Knowledge of National Planning Procedures is essential.

Working Environment

Our southern region team, Transport South, provides Transport Planning and Design services to public and private sector clients operating in government, property developer, defence and energy sectors. Our services are provided from offices in London, Stevenage, Southampton, Bristol and Cardiff. This role can be based in our London or Southampton office, working as part of our Transport Team.
