Assistant Store Manager Job Description

We are looking for a self driven, motivated individual to join the management team in our Glen of the Downs store. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced retail Assistant Manager, to get stuck in to a role within a progressive, fast growing garden leisure business. Outdoor Living is a dynamic environment that prides itself on being Ireland’s one stop shop for everything related to outdoor living.

Duties \& Responsibilities:

*Store Operations*

  • Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.

  • Maintain a strong floor presence, ensuring smooth workflow and consistent service standards.

  • Support senior management in implementing operational plans and achieving store targets.
*Customer Experience*
  • Ensure excellent customer service at all times, leading by example and motivating staff to deliver the same.

  • Go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction, resolving issues promptly and professionally.

  • Manage customer enquiries, complaints, and follow‑ups, ensuring all customers receive timely responses.
*Team Leadership*
  • Support and guide staff during daily operations, providing coaching and direction where needed.

  • Assist with training new team members, ensuring they understand procedures, product knowledge, and customer service expectations.

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive working environment.
*Cross‑Department Coordination*
  • Liaise with Logistics, Purchasing, and other departments to resolve queries and ensure smooth communication across the business.

  • Coordinate stock movements, deliveries, and product updates with relevant teams.
*Sales \& Administration*
  • Process sales invoices and orders accurately and efficiently.

  • Maximise sales performance while maintaining strong stock and cost control.

  • Manage stock levels, ordering, merchandising, and general stock control alongside the purchasing department.

  • Complete tasks and actions assigned by senior management in a timely and organised manner.
*Showroom Standards*
  • Maintain showroom presentation to a high standard, including general cleaning and merchandising.

  • Ensure displays are attractive, well stocked, and aligned with seasonal trends and promotional activity.
*Ideal Candidate Profile*
  • Motivated, driven, and confident in a leadership role.

  • Strong interest in outdoor living and garden leisure products.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Customer‑focused with strong communication abilities.

  • A team player who can adapt to different roles within the business.

  • Experience in sales and customer service is essential.

  • Must be willing to work in all weather. The garden centre environment includes indoor and outdoor spaces that can be cold during winter months

This role operates on a 5‑day rostered week over 7 days, with weekend work required.
Current opening hours: 9\.30am–5\.30pm Monday–Saturday and 12pm–5\.30pm Sundays.

Job Types: Full‑time, Permanent
Work Location: In person

Pay: €38,000\.00\-€40,000\.00 per year
