Walker \& Sloan are working with an outstanding regional construction contractor to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team based in Bristol.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to develop their career with a highly respected contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of new build and refurbishment projects valued up to c.£10m.

Working alongside experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you’ll gain hands\-on exposure across the full project lifecycle while receiving the support and mentorship needed to progress your commercial career.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of multiple construction projects from pre\-construction through to final account.

Working closely with the wider commercial and operational teams, you’ll assist with cost reporting, procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, and commercial administration, helping ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the commercial management of new build and refurbishment projects


• Supporting procurement and subcontractor package administration


• Preparing valuations, variations, and final accounts


• Assisting with cost reporting, forecasting, and monthly CVRs


• Processing subcontractor applications and payments


• Supporting contract administration and change management


• Attending site meetings and liaising with project teams


• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors


• Assisting Senior Quantity Surveyors with the successful commercial delivery of projects

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee Quantity Surveyor within a construction environment


• Degree qualified or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline


• Experience working for a main contractor would be advantageous


• Strong numerical and analytical skills


• Excellent communication and organisational abilities


• Ambitious, eager to learn, and keen to develop a long\-term career within commercial management


• Full UK driving licence
