Goleudy is a jointly commissioned service delivered in partnership between Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Cardiff and Vale Local Authorities, supporting young people and their families experiencing high levels of distress.

The Goleudy team is underpinned by trauma\-informed, formulation\-driven, and attachment\-focused values. We centre our understanding of young people’s experiences around the question, “what has happened to them?” rather than “what is wrong with them?” . This approach guides how we work alongside young people, their families and professional systems during times of heightened distress.

The multidisciplinary team includes Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and colleagues from education. We actively promote a culture of shared learning, celebrating difference and valuing diverse perspectives. In line with trauma\-informed principles, staff are supported through regular supervision, mentoring, reflective practice, formulation discussions, and dedicated nurture days.

Building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships is central to the team’s work. There is a strong emphasis on working collaboratively with existing services across local authority and health systems, alongside developing wider connections within the community.

Goleudy works closely alongside the Enfys service within Child Psychology, with both teams benefiting from ongoing collaboration and opportunities for joint working.

Under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, the Assistant Psychologist will:

Support the Goleudy team in developing a psychological understanding of a child or young person’s distress

Work with and support the wider system and network around the child or young person

Support young people and their families to understand the impact of developmental trauma

Assist Clinical Psychologists in delivering consultations, advice, and guidance to social workers, education staff, and other professionals within the Care Group

Co\-facilitate psychological formulation discussions and contribute to the delivery of training for residential support workers

Participate in audit and research activity across the service, as appropriate

Engage in regular clinical supervision

Support with clinical and administrative tasks

Attend weekly team meetings and reflective practice sessions across both the Goleudy and Enfys teams, and participate in continuing professional development (CPD) and team\-based nurture activities
