The Role

We’re looking for a Production Assistant Manager to support our Howden site. This is a development opportunity, offering a clear pathway to Production Manager level.

You’ll play a key role in coordinating day\-to\-day production activities, leading teams across production and packing areas, and ensuring operations run efficiently to meet business targets.

Key Responsibilities

Operations \& Planning

• Plan and organise shift patterns to meet production demands


• Coordinate daily workloads across production, packing, and teams


• Monitor materials, stock levels, and production flow to keep operations running smoothly


• Manage agency staffing requirements within budget

• Lead and develop the production teams


• Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management


• Drive a“One Team, One Goal” culture across the site


• Support succession planning and team capability development

• Promote a strong safety\-first culture across all activities


• Ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work and site procedures


• Support audits, risk assessments, and continuous safety improvements


• Take responsibility for safe operations during out\-of\-hours working

• Ensure adherence to quality standards and production processes


• Monitor KPIs and production data to drive performance improvements


• Support continuous improvement and change initiatives across the site

Experience \& Skills

• Previous experience managing or leading teams within a production or manufacturing environment


• Strong organisational and planning skills in fast\-paced settings


• Confident communicator, able to engage at all levels


• Experience driving performance, continuous improvement, and change


• Ability to build strong cross\-functional relationships

• Safety\-first mindset with knowledge of H\&S practices


• Hands\-on leadership style with a proactive, solutions\-focused approach


• Driven, ambitious, and motivated to progress into a Production Manager role
