Assistant Merchandiser

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail\-oriented and proactive Assistant Merchandiser to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will support the Supply Chain Manager in delivering the commercial plan through in season trading, stock management, and forecasting.

The Assistant Merchandiser will provide analysis, coordination, and execution support to ensure optimal stock availability, effective promotional delivery, and controlled stock levels throughout the season.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in supply chain management, project coordination, and product development within a fast\-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• In Season Trading \& Forecasting: Support weekly trading analysis, tracking performance against forecast and plan. Assist in reforecasting demand based on sales trends and promotional activity. Highlight risks and opportunities (stock outs, slow sellers, overstock). Prepare recommendations for review (reorders, promotions, pricing changes).


• Commercial Plan Execution: Support execution of the seasonal trading plan. Ensure product availability aligns with planned activity and campaigns. Track performance vs plan and flag gaps or risks.


• Promotional \& Marketing Coordination: Liaise with Marketing to coordinate product selection for campaigns and emails. Ensure correct products are selected based on stock availability. Support campaign setup and readiness.


• Pricing \& Markdown Support: Assist in analysing product performance to support pricing decisions. Highlight items for potential promotion, markdown, or protection. Prepare data and options for decision making.


• Stock Availability \& Replenishment: Monitor stock levels and availability across key lines. Flag where reorders may be required based on sales trends. Work with Senior Supply Chain Coordinator to support execution.


• Surplus \& Waste Management: Identify slow moving or excess stock. Support initiatives to reduce end of season waste. Assist in implementing actions such as promotions or stock redistribution.


• Mix \& Bundle Ownership: Support creation of product mixes and bundles. Provide data and suggestions on SKUs and quantities. Assist in execution once agreed.

• Proven experience or strong interest in merchandising, category management, or related fields such as supply chain or logistics


• Strong analytical and commercial mindset


• Advanced Excel skills and ability to interpret data


• Familiarity with ERP systems and business requirements gathering is highly desirable.


• Ability to support decision making with data


• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments including marketing, product management, and logistics


• Proactive approach to problem solving and decision making

• Accuracy and timeliness of trading analysis
