Join the opening team at Heidi Victoria

We’re opening a brand\-new Heidi bakery and coffee shop inside London Victoria Station, and we’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join our opening management team.

This is a hands\-on role for someone who enjoys being on the floor, leading from the front and helping a busy hospitality operation run brilliantly.

You’ll work closely with the Store Manager to lead the team, maintain our service and product standards and make sure customers receive a consistently great experience.

Hello, we’re Heidi.

Heidi is a growing independent bakery and coffee\-shop group with locations across London and the South East.

Our philosophy is simple: let the food and coffee do the talking.

Our bakery team makes our food from scratch, from croissants and pastries to cakes, savouries and sandwiches. We take the same approach to our coffee, using excellent beans, equipment and training to ensure every cup is served to a consistently high standard.

Victoria will be one of our busiest stores, so we’re looking for someone who thrives in a high\-volume, fast\-paced environment and can keep the team organised, motivated and focused when service gets busy.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside the Store Manager, you’ll help take responsibility for the day\-to\-day operation of the store, including:

  • Leading the Front of House team during busy services.

  • Delivering excellent customer service and setting the standard for the wider team.

  • Supporting, coaching and developing team members.

  • Helping organise shifts and ensuring the right people are in the right positions during service.

  • Preparing and serving consistently excellent coffee when required.

  • Maintaining Heidi’s standards for food presentation, coffee and customer service.

  • Opening and closing the store and taking responsibility for the site when the Store Manager is not present.

  • Handling customer queries and resolving problems professionally.

  • Supporting stock control, deliveries, ordering and waste management.

  • Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene.

  • Ensuring tills, cash handling and daily operational procedures are completed correctly.

  • Helping the Store Manager monitor team performance and address issues where required.

  • Creating a positive, professional working environment where the team can perform at their best.
This is very much a hands\-on management position. We expect our managers to work alongside their teams and be comfortable jumping onto the coffee machine, till or counter whenever needed.

Who we're looking for

You’ll be a good fit if you:

  • Have previous supervisory, Assistant Manager or management experience within hospitality, coffee shops, restaurants, bakeries or a similar environment.

  • Are confident leading a team during busy service.

  • Have strong customer\-service standards and genuinely enjoy hospitality.

  • Are organised and able to prioritise when several things are happening at once.

  • Are reliable, punctual and comfortable taking responsibility.

  • Can communicate clearly and positively with your team.

  • Lead by example rather than managing from the sidelines.

  • Have a good understanding of cleanliness, food hygiene and operational standards.

  • Are comfortable working in a high\-volume environment.

  • Are flexible around early starts and weekend working.
Previous barista experience would be an advantage, although we can provide training on our coffee standards and equipment.

Hours and availability

This is a full\-time permanent position with fixed contracted hours of 48 hours per week.

Victoria is a seven\-day\-a\-week operation, so your 48 hours will be worked on a rota and will include a mixture of early mornings and weekends.

Applicants should make sure they can reliably travel to London Victoria Station, particularly for early opening shifts.

What we offer

  • £14\.25 per hour

  • Fixed 48\-hour full\-time contract

  • Company pension

  • Staff food and drink benefits

  • Employee discount across Heidi

  • Company events

  • Full product and barista training

  • Management development and opportunities to progress as Heidi continues to grow

  • The opportunity to be part of the opening management team for a major new Heidi location
Interested?

If you’re an experienced hospitality supervisor or manager who enjoys being hands\-on, leading a team and delivering great service, we’d love to hear from you.

Please apply with your CV and a short note telling us about your management experience and availability.
