Fun Factory, Back of the Net Wakefield \& Cross Bar is an exciting and growing leisure destination serving the local community. The business initially opened in June 2025 with state\-of\-the\-art 3G football pitches, followed by the opening of Cross Bar in December 2025\. We are now entering the final phase of our development with the launch of the Fun Factory soft play Centre and a brand\-new kitchen facility.
Our venue combines sport, entertainment, food, and family fun, creating a unique destination for families, sports teams, and the wider community.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager specialising in Catering and Hospitality to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional service standards, and maintaining high levels of food safety and quality. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for food preparation, team management, and delivering outstanding customer experiences. The Assistant Manager will support the management team in supervising staff, coordinating events, and ensuring smooth operational flow across the Fun Factory Soft Play area, Cross Bar, and Back of the Net by ensuring our catering and hospitality services are delivered efficiently and with top\-quality food.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily kitchen and service operations, ensuring efficiency and high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and food production processes to meet safety and quality standards.
- Supervise and motivate team members, including serving staff, kitchen personnel, and baristas, fostering a positive working environment.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manage stock levels to ensure timely availability of ingredients and supplies.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all areas of operation.
- Support the organisation of catering events, Parties, and the daily running of the Fun Factory, Cross Bar, Back of the Net, as well as any other food and hospitality functions from planning through execution.
- Monitor service delivery to ensure customer satisfaction and handle any issues promptly.
- Assist in training new staff members on operational procedures, food safety protocols, and customer service excellence.
- Contribute to menu planning alongside culinary staff to enhance offerings based on client preferences and seasonal ingredients.
- Ensure compliance with health \& safety legislation and organisational policies at all times.
- Proven supervising experience within the kitchen, catering or hospitality industry.
- Previous kitchen, restaurant or hotel experience demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
- Practical knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations is essential.
- Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served efficiently during busy service periods.
- Experience in managing teams within fast\-paced environments such as a busy kitchen, restaurant catering services, Bar and Soft Play environments.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Act as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and customer service.
- Previous roles involving culinary experience or food production are highly desirable.
- Barista experience or background in serving beverages is advantageous but not essential. This position is ideal for motivated professionals eager to advance their career within a vibrant hospitality environment while delivering exceptional service standards.
