Assistant Care Manager

Location: Ormiston, EH35

Pay: £42,889 per annum

What You’ll Do

As an assistant manager you will support the home manager in ensuring the smooth running of the service and its staff.

Supervise and mentor Senior Support Workers and their teams
Ensure our children receive the highest level of support
Support home manager with updates and reports, responsible in the Home Managers absence
Promote individuality NOT a "one size fits all" approach, for residents and staff
Monitoring of staff to provide development \& training where required
Promoting a warm, homely environment and ensuring all staff adopt this approach
Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support for residents and staff alike
Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn \& movie nights or creative projects

New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people’s records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day\-to\-day role.

Who Are You

You'll have a minimum of 2 years in a similar role within children's residential
Related qualifications SVQ 4/SQF 9 Social Services (Children and Young People) and HNC in Social Care/Academic equivalent or working towards SVQ 4 Social Services (Children and Young People)
Manual UK driving licence is essential
Wide knowledge of the behaviours displayed by children and young people and an understanding of a myriad of intervention strategies
Knowledge of the Policy and Procedures in relation to residential child care
Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
Working Knowledge of legislation in relation to child care including National Care Standards, Children (Scotland) Act 1989, GIRFEC.
