Assistant General Manager \- High\-Volume Hospitality
Pop Street is looking for an experienced, energetic and hands\-on Assistant General Manager to join our management team at our busy Bullring location in Birmingham City Centre.
Pop Street is a fast\-paced QSR destination operating multiple food concepts under one roof, with digital self\-service ordering, high customer volumes and a strong focus on food quality, speed of service and customer experience.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Assistant General Manager or Restaurant Manager who enjoys being on the floor, leading teams and taking ownership of a busy operation.
The Role
Working closely with the General Manager, you will help oversee the entire day\-to\-day operation of Pop Street.
You will be responsible for ensuring the site operates efficiently, safely and commercially while maintaining excellent standards across food, service, staffing and customer experience.
You must be confident taking full responsibility for the operation in the General Manager's absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager with the day\-to\-day running of the business
- Lead, motivate and manage front\-of\-house and kitchen teams
- Take full responsibility for the site when required
- Manage busy trading periods and ensure fast, efficient customer service
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness
- Ensure effective staffing and team deployment throughout each shift
- Manage opening and closing procedures
- Support staff rotas and labour\-cost control
- Train, coach and develop team members
- Manage staff performance, attendance and standards
- Monitor sales and identify opportunities to improve performance
- Manage stock, deliveries, ordering and stock rotation
- Complete and support stock counts
- Control food waste, stock losses and operating costs
- Ensure food safety, allergen, HACCP, health \& safety and hygiene procedures are followed
- Maintain excellent Environmental Health and food hygiene standards
- Monitor the customer journey, including self\-service kiosks, tills and collection areas
- Deal confidently and professionally with customer feedback or complaints
- Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions
- Support menu launches, promotions and new food concepts
- Provide senior management with clear feedback on sales, staffing, stock and operational performance
You should have previous management experience within a busy hospitality environment.
Ideally, you will have experience within:
- Quick\-Service Restaurants (QSR)
- High\-volume restaurants
- Fast\-food operations
- Multi\-brand hospitality
- Busy casual dining
- Retail or shopping\-centre hospitality
- Previous hospitality management experience
- Strong leadership and people\-management skills
- Confidence managing a team during high\-volume trading
- A hands\-on management style
- Good commercial awareness
- Understanding of labour, food cost, stock and wastage control
- Strong food safety and hygiene knowledge
- Excellent organisational skills
- Strong problem\-solving ability
- Excellent customer\-service standards
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to lead by example
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and peak trading periods
This isn't a traditional restaurant management role.
Pop Street operates several food concepts from one high\-volume location, with the majority of customer orders placed digitally through self\-service kiosks.
You will therefore be managing a fast\-moving operation where people, food quality, speed, technology and commercial performance all need to work together.
