We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant General Manager to join our team and support the management of both our BLOCK Bristol and BLOCK Redcliffe locations.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, organised and customer\-focused Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in the day\-to\-day operation of our workspaces.
This is a varied and hands\-on role, with responsibility for helping to deliver an outstanding experience for our clients, tenants and visitors. You will support the management of front\-of\-house operations, workspace standards, client relationships, events, administration, facilities and the wider BLOCK team.
You will play an important role in ensuring that our workspaces are welcoming, professional, vibrant and maintained to the highest possible standards. In the absence of the General Manager, you will also be required to provide operational updates to the Senior Leadership Team and help ensure the smooth running of the sites.
The successful candidate will be confident, highly organised and able to lead from the front. You will have excellent communication and customer service skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently whilst also being an effective member of the wider BLOCK team.
This role would suit someone with experience in a customer\-facing, workspace, hospitality, facilities, property or management environment who is looking to take the next step in their career and develop their management and operational experience.
Responsibilities:
- Support the General Manager with the day\-to\-day management and operation of both BLOCK Bristol and BLOCK Redcliffe.
- Help ensure an outstanding first impression and exceptional experience for all clients, tenants, visitors and prospective customers.
- Manage and support front\-of\-house operations and ensure reception areas are professional, organised and welcoming.
- Oversee the presentation, cleanliness and general upkeep of offices, meeting rooms, business lounges and communal areas.
- Support and manage the Reception, Concierge and Cleaning teams alongside the General Manager.
- Maintain accurate client information, workspace records and daily handovers.
- Coordinate client requests, including meeting room bookings, post, parcels and other front\-of\-house services.
- Maintain and update internal systems, including OfficeRND, SharePoint, Canva and other relevant platforms.
- Provide exceptional and professional customer service to clients and visitors at all times.
- Build strong relationships with tenants and encourage client satisfaction and retention.
- Support the planning, organisation and delivery of networking events, workshops and community activities.
- Assist with event logistics, including catering, AV, room set\-up and breakdown.
- Promote events and workspace activities through email, social media, OfficeRND and other communication channels.
- Identify opportunities to promote and cross\-sell BLOCK services, including meeting rooms, events and additional services.
- Support office tours and assist with identifying potential sales opportunities.
- Ensure meeting room bookings, payments and recharges are managed accurately.
- Help lead, support and develop members of the operational team.
- Coordinate staff meetings and support training and development where required.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, cleanliness and compliance throughout the workspaces.
- Act as a designated Fire Warden during operational hours.
- Monitor contractors and maintenance issues and escalate concerns where necessary.
- Ensure accidents, incidents, hazards and maintenance issues are appropriately recorded and reported.
- Assist with emergency procedures and ensure clients and visitors are aware of relevant safety protocols.
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in a customer\-facing, management, workspace, hospitality, property, facilities or similar environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and relationship\-building skills.
- The ability to lead, motivate and support others.
- A sales and results\-focused mindset.
- Excellent organisational and time\-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high standards of presentation.
- The ability to work independently and use their own initiative, whilst also working effectively as part of a team.
- Confidence dealing with clients, visitors, contractors and colleagues at all levels.
- The ability to remain calm and professional when working under pressure.
- Good negotiating and influencing skills.
- Confidence using social media platforms, including LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ideally experience using CRM or workspace management systems.
- Experience using systems such as OfficeRND, HubSpot, Canva or similar would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
- A strong interest in improving processes, developing new ideas and helping to enhance the customer and workspace experience.
- A professional manner, appearance and strong work ethic.
