Assistant Facilties and Warehouse Manager
Strickland MFG is seeking a proactive and organised Assistant Warehouse \& Facilities Manager to join our Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced warehouse or operations professional to play a key role in supporting the day\-to\-day management of our warehouse, logistics and site facilities while helping to drive operational efficiency, safety and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will support the smooth running of warehouse operations, inventory management and site facilities, ensuring products are received, stored and dispatched efficiently whilst maintaining a safe, compliant and well\-organised working environment. Working closely with the Facilities \& Operations Manager and supervising the Operations Supervisor, you will help ensure our operational functions support the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations \& Inventory
- Support the day\-to\-day management of warehouse activities, including goods\-in, storage, picking, packing and dispatch.
- Ensure inbound and outbound deliveries are checked for accuracy, quality and compliance.
- Assist with stock control, regular stock takes and cycle counts, resolving discrepancies where required.
- Help optimise warehouse and yard layouts to maximise efficiency and support future growth.
- Monitor operational performance and contribute towards achieving departmental KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse systems, processes and efficiencies through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the warehouse, welding and assembly bays, paint department and yard.
- Support the maintenance and upkeep of company buildings, equipment and site facilities.
- Coordinate routine maintenance, servicing schedules and repairs.
- Liaise with external contractors to ensure maintenance and compliance activities are completed effectively.
- Assist in ensuring forklifts, lifting equipment and operational machinery remain serviced and compliant.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment across all operational areas.
- Support compliance with Health \& Safety legislation, company policies and operational procedures.
- Participate in risk assessments, method statements, toolbox talks and operational inspections.
- Assist with accident investigations and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Promote compliance with COSHH, LOLER, PUWER and Fire Safety requirements.
- Support site security and ensure safe storage and handling of materials and equipment.
- Supervise and support operational staff, promoting high standards of performance and teamwork.
- Assist with organising workloads and allocating daily tasks.
- Conduct return\-to\-work interviews and support absence management processes.
- Assist with performance management, investigations and disciplinary processes where appropriate.
- Support staff development by identifying training needs and encouraging continuous learning.
- Deputise for the Facilities \& Operations Manager during periods of absence.
- Produce and monitor operational KPIs including stock accuracy, picking performance, loading times and productivity.
- Analyse operational data using systems such as Excel, ERP software or Power BI.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve performance and reduce waste.
- Support wider operational improvement projects across the business.
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience within a warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment, together with experience supervising operational teams. You will be highly organised, safety\-conscious and confident managing multiple priorities within a busy manufacturing environment.
You will be a proactive problem solver who enjoys improving processes, supporting colleagues and ensuring high operational standards are consistently achieved.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within a warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment.
- At least three years' experience supervising or coordinating operational teams.
- Good understanding of warehouse operations including goods\-in, stock control, picking, packing and dispatch.
- Experience supporting Health \& Safety compliance within an operational environment.
- Experience using stock management or warehouse management systems.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Competent using Microsoft Excel and digital operational systems.
- Level 3 qualification in Logistics, Operations Management, Manufacturing or equivalent practical experience.
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent Health \& Safety qualification).
- Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) certification.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport.
- Experience coordinating facilities maintenance or managing contractors.
- Experience working within a compliance\-driven manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and operational reporting tools such as Power BI.
- First Aid at Work and/or Fire Marshal training.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
