About the Role

This is a great opportunity to join the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) at a time of transformation and innovation both in the Agency and across the wider local government sector. The LGMA is a dynamic, collaborative agency at the heart of local government that drives innovation, supports communities, and shapes the future of public services across Ireland. The Assistant Chief Executive (ACE) will be a member of the LGMA Executive, the organisation’s senior management team, and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The ACE will lead the Local Authority Waste Programme Coordination Office and the Environment, Climate and Circular Economy (ECCE) Committee of the County and City Management Association (CCMA). The ACE will lead the delivery of relevant priorities and actions contained in the LGMA Corporate Plan as they relate to the role. They will also support the CEO and the members of the Executive to deliver on wider corporate objectives and contribute to the development, implementation, and review of organisational policies and procedures.

The ACE will develop and maintain high\-value strategic relationships with the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, the Environmental Protection Agency and other national stakeholders to support integrated policy development, regulatory alignment and effective delivery across the local government sector. The ACE will act as the principal interface for local authorities for the circular economy and waste, leading collaborative programmes, influencing policy development, facilitating joint initiatives and ensuring local authority operational experience informs national policy making decisions.
