The Assistant Events Manager / Waiter supports the delivery of exceptional evening events at Wood Street Bakery. Working alongside the Late Events Manager, this role helps create a warm, welcoming and memorable experience for guests while ensuring high standards of service, presentation and cleanliness are maintained throughout the event.
The role requires a passion for hospitality, excellent customer service skills and an enthusiasm for sharing the story behind our food, drink and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service \& Hospitality
- Welcome and assist guests in a friendly, professional and engaging manner.
- Provide attentive service throughout events.
- Build rapport with customers and contribute to a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer requests and questions.
- Serve food, wine and other beverages efficiently and professionally.
- Pour and serve wine responsibly in accordance with licensing requirements and company policies.
- Ensure food and drinks are presented to a high standard.
- Monitor tables throughout service and anticipate guests' needs.
- Confidently explain menu items, ingredients and preparation methods.
- Share the provenance and stories behind our produce, suppliers and products.
- Answer customer questions regarding food, drinks and dietary requirements.
- Promote Wood Street Bakery's values, quality standards and commitment to locally sourced ingredients where appropriate.
- Process customer payments accurately using the till and card payment systems.
- Assist with reconciling bills and handling transactions throughout the event.
- Support the team in achieving strong sales through knowledgeable and enthusiastic service.
- Assist with event set\-up, including preparing tables, serving stations and guest areas.
- Help maintain a clean, organised and efficient service environment throughout the event.
- Communicate effectively with the Late Events Manager and wider team to ensure smooth operations.
- Clear tables and service areas throughout the evening.
- Assist with end\-of\-night cleaning and close\-down procedures.
- Ensure all customer\-facing and back\-of\-house areas are left clean, tidy and ready for the following day.
- Maintain high standards of personal presentation and professionalism.
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and alcohol service procedures.
- Work collaboratively as part of a small team.
- Take pride in delivering excellent hospitality and representing Wood Street Bakery positively at all times.
