Assistant Accountant

Working as part of a large finance team and reporting into senior finance leadership, you will support multiple operational sites and play an important role in delivering accurate financial reporting and business insight.This is a hands-on accounting position with a strong focus on month-end reporting, balance sheet integrity, financial analysis and stakeholder support.Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis
- Producing site and business unit financial reports
- Processing journals, accruals and prepayments
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining financial controls
- Supporting month-end and year-end accounting processes
- Working alongside operational teams to understand financial performance
- Supporting financial reporting across multiple UK locations
- Analysing costs, overheads and operational performance
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Supporting process improvement initiatives and finance transformation projects
- Working closely with senior accountants and finance leadership on ad hoc reporting requirements
- Previous experience within a Management Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant or Financial Accountant position
- Strong month-end and management accounting experience
- Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations
- Good understanding of accruals, prepayments and journals
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems
- Ability to analyse and interpret financial information
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident communication skills with the ability to work with non-finance stakeholders
- Manufacturing, operational or stock accounting exposure
- Experience supporting multiple business units or locations
- Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or Qualified by Experience
- Experience within a shared service or large corporate environment
- Salary up to £36,500
- Discretionary annual bonus
