Area Manager
Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate, motivated, and experienced Area Leader to join our team and provide strong leadership across our services supporting children and young people.
As an Area Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring that our services provide safe, nurturing, and high\-quality care. You will work closely with Service Managers and their teams, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure children and young people receive the highest standard of care and are supported to achieve their individual goals.
You will be responsible for overseeing the effective operation of services within your designated area, promoting best practice, maintaining high standards, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership and oversight across a number of services within the designated area.
- Support and develop Service Managers, helping them to lead their teams effectively and achieve positive outcomes.
- Ensure children and young people receive high\-quality, personalised care that promotes independence, confidence, wellbeing, and personal development.
- Promote a strong culture of safeguarding and ensure concerns, incidents, and risks are managed appropriately.
- Monitor service quality, performance, and compliance, identifying areas for improvement and supporting managers to implement action plans.
- Carry out regular service visits, audits, and quality checks to ensure expected standards are consistently maintained.
- Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, colleagues, social workers, education professionals, and other external agencies.
- Ensure care plans, risk assessments, records, and other documentation are accurate, up to date, and reflective of individual needs.
- Support managers with recruitment, induction, supervision, training, and ongoing development of staff.
- Encourage a positive team culture where staff feel supported, valued, and motivated.
- Monitor staffing, resources, and operational requirements across the area.
- Respond proactively to challenges and provide effective solutions to maintain safe and effective service delivery.
- Ensure services operate in accordance with organisational policies, relevant legislation, and regulatory standards.
- Review incidents, complaints, and feedback and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
- Promote continuous improvement and share good practice across the services.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, compassion, accountability, and a child\-centred approach.
- Previous experience in a management or senior leadership role within children's services, social care, residential care, education, or a related setting.
- Experience of managing, supervising, and developing teams.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and the needs of children and young people.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and problem\-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple services and competing priorities effectively.
- Experience of quality assurance, audits, inspections, or service improvement is desirable.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate managers and staff.
- A relevant qualification in Children's Services, Health and Social Care, Education, Leadership, or Management is desirable.
- A management qualification such as a Level 4 or Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between services may be required.
