JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Shuttleworth Collection
Reports To: Chief Engineer
Contract Type: Full\-time. Permanent. On\-Site
Salary: Competitive package, dependent on experience
Work Hours: 40hrs (08:00 \- 17:00\) 5 out 7 days per week.
Role Overview
The Shuttleworth Collection is seeking a versatile and enthusiastic engineer to support the maintenance, restoration, and continued airworthiness of its historic aircraft fleet. This role is ideal for an individual with experience in aviation: maintenance, repair and overhaul or engineering: design, development or manufacturing.
Working as part of the Engineering Department, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and engineering excellence across all maintenance and restoration activities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the following activities:
Continued Airworthiness Management
- Assist with maintenance planning, scheduling, and control activities.
- Support the development and management of maintenance programmes.
- Review and assess airworthiness information and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of maintenance work packs and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, customers, and engineering personnel to ensure airworthiness requirements are met.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of aircraft restoration projects.
- Support project management activities throughout restoration programmes.
- Source and procure aircraft components, materials, and specialist services.
- Monitor and coordinate subcontracted work to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Research and develop repair and modification schemes.
- Identify and evaluate alternative materials, manufacturing methods, and repair techniques.
- Prepare technical documentation for submission to relevant airworthiness authorities.
- Source specialist engineering suppliers and manufacturing partners.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and operational teams.
- Exercise the privileges of any relevant engineering licences, approvals, or company authorisations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering procedures and working practices.
Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out assigned tasks in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and recognised engineering best practices.
You will work closely with members of the engineering team, quality personnel, volunteers, apprentices, and external suppliers to support the engineering objectives of the Shuttleworth Collection.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Qualifications
Applicants should possess one of the following:
- Degree, HND/HNC, or NVQ Level 5 qualification in Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline; or
- EASA/UK Part\-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence, BCAR Category A or C licence, or equivalent qualification; or
- Relevant company engineering authorisations and demonstrable industry experience.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing techniques, and production processes.
- Knowledge of aviation materials, aircraft structures, aerodynamics, and propulsion systems.
- Strong organisational and technical problem\-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
A minimum of three years' experience in one or more of the following areas:
Aviation
- Aircraft maintenance
- Aircraft repair
- Aircraft manufacturing
- Aircraft overhaul
- Airworthiness management
- Design engineering
- Manufacturing engineering
- Testing and validation
- Materials science
- Continued Airworthiness Management (CAMO).
- Aircraft maintenance planning.
