ABOUT GOLDEN GOOSE LOGISTICS

Golden Goose Logistics Ltd is a growing freight forwarding and logistics company based in Reading.

We operate our own Customs Bonded Warehouse (ETSF) and provide airfreight import and export services, customs clearance, airline collections, bonded storage, cargo handling and final\-mile delivery throughout the UK and Europe.

We are now recruiting our first dedicated Airfreight Business Development Manager to take ownership of developing our import and export customer base.

THE ROLE

Your primary objective will be to generate profitable new airfreight business.

You will identify and approach UK importers, exporters, freight forwarders and overseas agents, develop new trade lanes and convert opportunities into long\-term customer relationships.

This is a new\-business\-focused position for someone who can manage the complete sales process, from prospecting and preparing quotations through to negotiation and securing confirmed shipments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate new airfreight import and export business.

  • Identify and approach UK importers, exporters and freight forwarding partners.

  • Build relationships with overseas agents, including WCA members.

  • Promote our airfreight, customs clearance, airline collection, bonded warehousing and delivery services.

  • Generate leads through telephone calls, email, LinkedIn, networking and face\-to\-face meetings.

  • Understand prospective customers’ shipping requirements and prepare competitive quotations.

  • Work with airlines, IATA agents and handling partners to obtain competitive rates.

  • Develop profitable airfreight trade lanes and regular consolidated shipments.

  • Negotiate rates and service agreements while protecting company margins.

  • Follow up quotations and convert enquiries into confirmed business.

  • Maintain an organised and accurate sales pipeline.

  • Attend customer meetings, networking events and international industry conferences when required.

  • Coordinate with our customs, warehouse and operations teams during customer onboarding.

  • Manage KYC, credit\-term and service\-agreement requirements for new customers.

  • Meet agreed targets for new customers, revenue and gross profit.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven B2B sales or business development experience within airfreight, freight forwarding or logistics.

  • Strong understanding of airfreight imports and exports.

  • Experience generating leads, preparing quotations and closing new business.

  • Understanding of airfreight pricing, chargeable weight, airline handling and customs clearance.

  • Existing relationships with importers, exporters, overseas agents or freight forwarders would be highly advantageous.

  • Strong negotiation, communication and relationship\-building skills.

  • Commercial awareness and the ability to develop profitable business.

  • Confidence approaching prospective customers through cold calling and targeted outreach.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the sales function.

  • Good organisational skills and experience using CRM or sales\-pipeline software.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The successful candidate will be expected to build a credible pipeline during the initial months and, following an agreed ramp\-up period, work towards generating £20,000 in new monthly gross profit.

Performance will be assessed fairly using sales activity, pipeline development, new customer acquisition and gross profit results.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

This permanent position is subject to a three\-month probationary period. Performance will be reviewed throughout probation based on sales activity, pipeline development, the quality of opportunities generated, new customer acquisition and initial gross profit.

Golden Goose Logistics Ltd reserves the right to extend the probationary period where additional time is reasonably required to assess the employee’s performance, suitability or conduct.
