About Steel Door Company

Steel Door Company is a fast\-growing provider of bespoke, high\-end internal and external steel doors.

We are investing heavily in technology to digitise and improve our end\-to\-end customer journey, replacing manual and offline processes with connected digital systems.

We are now hiring an AI Product Builder / Automation Developer to support the development of our growing digital platform and internal systems.

This is not a traditional web development role.

We are looking for someone who enjoys building, experimenting and solving operational problems using modern development tools, automation platforms and AI\-assisted workflows.

The Opportunity

You will work closely with the Engineering Lead and wider business to rapidly turn ideas into working tools and systems.

This is a hands\-on role spanning customer\-facing experiences, internal tooling and business process automation.

You will contribute to building systems that support:

• Product configuration and quoting


• Sales and enquiry workflows


• Internal dashboards and operational tools


• Connected business systems and integrations


• Future fulfilment and manufacturing workflows

The focus is speed, experimentation and practical problem\-solving.

We value builders who can move quickly, learn rapidly and ship useful solutions.

What You’ll DoProduct \& Tool Development

Rapidly prototype, build and iterate on digital tools and workflows.

Including:

• Configurator and customer experience tools


• Sales and quoting workflows


• Internal dashboards and admin systems


• Operational tooling and process automation


• Customer and internal workflow improvements

You will help take ideas from concept to working tools in days rather than months.

Automation \& Integration

Support the development of connected systems across the business.

Including integrations with:

• Shopify


• HubSpot


• Xero


• Payment and booking systems


• Suppliers and operational partners

You’ll work with:

• APIs


• Webhooks


• Structured data


• Workflow automation tools


• Connected cloud services

The goal is to reduce manual work and create smoother business operations.

AI\-Assisted Development

We are particularly interested in people who actively use modern AI tools to accelerate delivery and problem\-solving.

Including experience or interest in:

• GPT / Claude workflows


• AI\-assisted coding and copilots


• Prompt\-driven development workflows


• Automation and agent\-style tooling


• Rapid prototyping with AI support

We see AI as a practical development tool that helps teams build and iterate faster.

Technical Environment

We are open to technology choices and value practical engineering judgement over attachment to any particular stack.

Experience may include:

Frontend

• Modern frontend frameworks such as React or equivalent


• Component\-based UI development


• Interactive and responsive user experiences


• Workflow and state\-driven interfaces


• Modern web application development practices

Backend \& Integration

Experience or exposure to:

• Modern backend ecosystems (.NET, Node.js, Python or similar)


• APIs and service integrations


• Backend logic and structured data handling


• Database\-backed applications


• Secure and scalable web systems


• Automation and operational tooling

Platforms \& Deployment

Awareness or experience with:

• Cloud\-hosted applications


• Modern deployment workflows


• Frontend hosting and web infrastructure


• Environment management and application updates


• Monitoring and reliability concepts

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a practical builder with a bias toward action.

You may be junior or mid\-level, but you enjoy figuring things out and making ideas real.

You’ll likely have:

• Experience building websites, web applications or digital tools


• Strong foundations in HTML, CSS and JavaScript


• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks


• Comfort working with APIs and integrations


• Interest in backend and full\-stack development


• Curiosity around AI tools and automation platforms


• Strong problem\-solving mindset


• Attention to detail and ownership mentality


• Desire to learn how real\-world business systems are designed and built

Experience with tools such as:

• Zapier


• Make


• Retool


• Low\-code / no\-code platforms

is useful but not essential.
