Agricultural Service Manager

At Tarbolton, you’ll lead the service department and own its people, output and profitability. You’ll set the standard for workshop and field service performance while keeping customers moving.

  • Depot: Tarbolton, South Ayrshire

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with Saturday morning Rota

  • Reports to: Group Aftersales Manager

  • Contract: Permanent

Who we are

Hamilton Ross Group is one of the UK’s largest machinery dealerships. We have been trading since 1933, we are in our third generation of family ownership, and around 200 people work with us across nine depots in Scotland and the north of England. We represent major brands like Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Fendt, JCB, Wacker Neuson, Kubota, Honda, Stihl and Husqvarna.

The role

You’ll lead the workshop and field service teams, making sure work is planned, completed and invoiced efficiently. This is a hands\-on management role, close to the technical work and the day\-to\-day decisions that keep the department performing.

You’ll monitor performance and profitability, develop the team and maintain strong customer relationships. You’ll also have the scope to improve processes, customer service and workshop performance when you see a better way of working.

Requirements

What you’ll be doing


  • Lead the day\-to\-day workshop and field service operation at Tarbolton

  • Plan and prioritise workloads across the engineering team

  • Drive workshop efficiency, quality and profitability

  • Support technical decisions and maintain high workmanship standards

  • Lead and develop the service team, setting clear expectations

  • Oversee warranty claims and liaise with the warranty department

  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues

  • Identify opportunities to improve service performance and customer experience

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Management or supervisory experience in agricultural, groundcare, construction or plant machinery

  • Strong technical knowledge of agricultural machinery repair and maintenance

  • Experience leading and developing a skilled technical team

  • Commercial awareness and confidence taking ownership of department performance

  • Clear communication, good IT skills and practical problem\-solving

Desirable
  • Experience managing a multi\-franchise machinery workshop or service department

  • Experience with dealer or workshop management systems

  • Knowledge of manufacturer warranty processes
