Aftersales Engineer

About the Role
Our Aftersales Engineers are the first\-line responders for customer support needs during Monday–Friday, standard working hours only. This role combines reactive maintenance, mid\-level service capability, and technical investigations with time spent supporting our production activities when not deployed on aftersales tasks.
This is an exciting and varied position suited to engineers who enjoy problem‑solving, working independently, and supporting customers across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Aftersales (Primary Responsibility)
- Act as one of the on‑call responders for incoming aftersales requests during scheduled working hours.
- Carry out reactive maintenance, repairs, and fault investigations on switchgear and associated systems.
- Perform mid‑level service tasks, which may include:
- Routine maintenance
- Component replacement
- Relay testing
- VT/CT functional checks
- Mechanical adjustments
- Conduct site assessments and produce clear service reports, RAMS (where required), and documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and professional customer\-facing communication.
- Uphold all relevant safety procedures, risk controls, and company standards.
- Willingness to work away within the UK Monday–Friday.
- Duration may vary from 1 day up to a full week, depending on scope and location.
When awaiting an aftersales callout, you will be fully integrated into the production team to support hands\-on manufacturing and assembly activities, including:
- Electrical and mechanical installation work.
- Internal wiring and cabinet layout work (relays, meters, connectors, LV distribution components).
- Assembly of VT chambers, fuse boxes, P\&C panels, and switchgear components.
- Assistance with PDI inspections and functional testing.
- General workshop duties supporting daily production operations.
Essential:
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Good communication, problem\-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Confident interpreting electrical/wiring drawings
- IT‑competent (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Understanding of MV switchgear, auxiliary transformers, VTs/CTs, and protection/control panels.
- Relay testing experience (any level).
Essential:
- NVQ / City \& Guilds Level 2 or 3 in Electrical Installation, Electrotechnical Services, or similar.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Relevant service engineering or switchgear experience.
- Monday–Thursday: 08:00–17:00
- Friday: 08:00–13:00
- Please note: There may be unavoidable Overtime on Fridays depending on travel home from site, where possible we aim for employees to return by 1pm, or s close to this.

Pay: £33,000\.00\-£37,000\.00 per year

- Are you willing to travel UK‑wide and stay away from home Monday–Friday when required?
- Do you hold an NVQ/City \& Guilds Level 2 or Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Electrotechnical Services, or an equivalent electrical qualification?
- Will you now or in the future require VISA sponsorship for employment?
