We are seeking a motivated and professional Family Learning Tutor to deliver high\-quality adult and community learning programmes across the city. This role has a strong focus on engaging parents and carers alongside their children to support learning in everyday life. We would welcome applications from candidates that could offer additional subjects e.g. maths, English, digital or ESOL alongside a Family / Supporting Children’s Learning specialism.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering inclusive sessions, assessing learner progress using the RARPA methodology, and accurately recording achievement across a range of adult and family learning provision. You will play a key role in building parents’ confidence, supporting children’s learning, and promoting positive engagement in education. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact whilst working within a supportive and forward\-thinking team. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Facilitate Learning for both adults and children. Plan and deliver engaging sessions that support joint learning between parents/carers and their children. Adapt teaching methods to suit different abilities, backgrounds, and learning experiences

  • Help improve skills such as literacy, numeracy, and communication

  • Support and Empower Families. Build parents’ confidence in supporting their child’s learning at home. Provide guidance on positive parenting and educational involvement

  • Create an inclusive, welcoming environment where families feel valued and supported

  • Promote Engagement and Progression. Encourage participation in education, especially for families who may feel disconnected from schools or training. Monitor progress and provide feedback to support development. Signpost families to further learning opportunities, services, or community resources

  • Plan and prepare schemes of work, lessons and workshops to deliver non\-accredited courses to a high\-quality standard

  • Develop new course content and teaching materials and to assist in the development of the curriculum

  • Support the development of literacy, language numeracy and digital skills of all learners

  • Comply with auditing, quality assurance and risk management procedures both internal and external.

  • Partnership building and liaison including groups and organisations linked to employability, further learning and health and wellbeing

To deliver non\-accredited courses up to Level 1 within a classroom, digital or blended learning environment. A specialism in family learning, ESOL, maths, English, digital skills with experience of supporting learners to develop employability skills would be an advantage. Responsibilities* Plan and prepare schemes of work, lessons and workshops to deliver accredited and/or non\-accredited courses to a high\-quality standard

  • To induct and assess learners leading to the design of their individual learning plans

  • To be responsible for the delivery of learning, reviewing progress using RARPA methodology, assessment and recording of achievement in line with the Qualification framework and learning programme across a range of FEML, occupational and functional subject areas

  • Support and prepare learners in readiness for their final assessments

  • Provide learners with appropriate information, advice, guidance, and support at each stage of their learning journey

  • Develop new course content and teaching materials and to assist in the development of the curriculum

  • Support the development of literacy, language numeracy and digital skills of ALL learners

  • Comply with auditing, quality assurance and risk management procedures both internal and external

  • Partnership building and liaison including groups and organisations linked to employability, further learning and health and wellbeing

  • Continue his/her own personal and professional development as required for the role

Qualifications
  • Recognised teaching qualification minimum level 3

  • Minimum level 2 qualification in English and Maths

Knowledge
  • Holds a recognised teaching qualification (minimum level 3\)

  • Understanding of government funded training programmes

  • Understanding of the requirements of the national tests (from entry level 1\-3 and Level 1 and 2 in literacy and numeracy) and Essential Digital Skills qualifications.

  • Minimum level 2 Qualification in English and Maths.

  • Knowledge of different IT systems and digital learning platforms

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and Prevent policies and Procedures

  • Awareness of health and safety issues and knowledge of health and safety legislation
