As the ADHD Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical expertise across the PCS ADHD service, overseeing and providing clinical supervision and support with the assessment and treatment within NICE guidance for Adult ADHD and the PCS ADHD criteria. You will work alongside managerial and clinical leads to ensure high standards of governance, quality and patient safety are maintained across the service.

You will have clinical responsibility for the PCS ADHD Clinical Team, working within your professional boundaries to support the provision of safe and effective patient care. This will include screening, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow\-up, with a focus on safe clinical decision\-making and high\-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership and Supervision

  • Act as clinical lead of the PCS ADHD service by providing medical leadership to the team.

  • Provide direct Clinical supervision and guidance to assessors and prescribers.

  • Attend service team meetings and represent the service at governance meetings.

  • Provide education to the wider service through regular case reviews, meetings and planned training sessions.

  • Work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services
Clinical Practice
  • Provide direct medical/psychiatric review of complex cases in exceptional circumstances to inform care planning and risk assessment.

  • Formulate and recommend appropriate pharmacological and psychosocial interventions

  • Liaise with and provide advice to General Practitioners.

  • Complete administrative duties associated with clinical responsibilities, including clinical documentation, correspondence, reports and care planning, and record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively.

  • Maintain clinical skills and competencies relevant to the role.

  • Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2\) approval, and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
About you:
  • Candidates must hold MRCPsych (or equivalent).

  • Candidates must be included on the GMC Specialist Register in Psychiatry and hold full GMC registration.

  • Candidates must have a sound knowledge and understanding of the NHS Clinical Governance framework.

  • Candidates must have experience in assessing and treating adults with mental health conditions.

  • Candidates must have higher trainee or consultant\-level experience in adult mental health.

  • Candidates must demonstrate an excellent understanding of patient\-centred care and self\-care approaches.

  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to assess and manage adults with mental health conditions relevant to the post, including the assessment and management of clinical risk.

  • Candidates must have access to suitable transport and be willing to travel between sites across Sheffield.
Pay: £165,000\.00 per year
