An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and driven, highly motivated nurse manager to lead the Acute Medical Oncology Unit in a Band 7 role.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of an evolving service. The Acute Medical Oncology Unit comprises of 3 sub services: Assessment Unit, Same Day Emergency care (SDEC), and the Ambulatory Care Unit.

This service is currently undergoing a period of transformation to meet the increasing demands and continued development of services. As part of this change, we are looking for passionate and adaptable candidates who thrive in a fast\-paced, high\-acuity environment. The ideal candidates will have prior experience in leadership and management as well as in the care of the acutely unwell or deteriorating patient.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Deliver operational nursing leadership and act as a professional lead, taking corrective action when necessary to uphold Trust and professional standards.

Contribute to the delivery of the Quality, Safety, and Assurance agenda across the Cancer Centre.

Maintain a highly visible and accessible presence in clinical areas, supporting staff and ensuring excellent standards of care.

Participate in the Cancer Centre Senior Nurse/Operational Pager rota, providing clinical and operational advice as required.

Provide support to the treatment helpline and professional leadership across a range of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

The Acute Oncology Units Manager is responsible for the day\-to\-day operational leadership and management of the Ambulatory Care Department and Acute Oncology Assessment Unit at Velindre Cancer Centre.

This includes oversight of the care environment, quality and safety of service delivery, and ensuring a safe and efficient patient flow throughout the department.

The post\-holder will provide direct line management to registered nursing staff and healthcare support workers. They will also work closely with Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) to support key service areas. As a compassionate, visible, and accessible leader, the post\-holder will deliver high standards of clinical and operational leadership, championing professional nursing practice while supporting the strategic and operational goals of the Cancer Centre.

The post holder will:

Provide professional operational nurse leadership and act as a professional lead to all healthcare professionals and take corrective action to uphold Trust standards and act in accordance with the NMC Standards and Code of Conduct.

Support the cancer centres patient flow team which would entail working across a range of shifts including days, weekends and bank holidays.

Attend relevant professional and operational meetings and actively contribute to the delivery of the Quality, Safety and Assurance agenda across the Cancer Centre.

Actively contribute to further developing the Nursing Profession within the Trust.

Provide compassionate leadership in respect of delivery of service and cancer centre objectives and provide a highly visible and accessible presence in clinical and all other areas within the directorate.

Display leadership skills which will enable you to initiate and implement change.
