Accounts Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a competent and commercially focused Accounts Manager to manage and oversee day\-to\-day
financial and accounting activities within a growing logistics, road freight, transportation and vehicle services
business. The role requires strong numerical and analytical skills, attention to detail and sound commercial
judgement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day\-to\-day accounting and financial administration and maintain accurate ledgers and accounting systems.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, customer invoicing, supplier invoices and credit\-control activity.
- Undertake bank and account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor income, expenditure and cash\-flow requirements.
- Maintain records of vehicle, fuel, maintenance, insurance, leasing and other operational costs.
- Prepare periodic management accounts and monthly, quarterly and annual financial information.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Maintain appropriate financial controls and consistent accounting procedures.
- Support payroll administration and maintain relevant VAT, PAYE and statutory accounting records.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, suppliers and professional service providers.
- Prepare information for year\-end accounts and external financial reporting.
- Monitor customer payment patterns and identify potential credit or cash\-flow risks.
- Maintain records relating to vehicle purchases, leases, rentals and other business assets.
- Support financial assessment of contracts and commercial opportunities and prepare reports for management.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business, Business Administration, Commerce,
Economics or a related discipline; or relevant accounting/finance qualifications and demonstrable professional
experience. ACCA, CIMA, ACA, AAT or equivalent would be advantageous.
Essential Experience
- Relevant experience in accounts, finance, bookkeeping or financial administration.
- Experience with accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Understanding of budgeting, cash\-flow monitoring and expenditure control.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
- Experience in logistics, freight, haulage, transportation, fleet management or vehicle rental.
- Experience monitoring fleet expenditure and operating costs.
- Experience with Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or equivalent and knowledge of UK VAT/accounting requirements.
- Strong professional, analytical and organisational capability relevant to the role.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with management, operational teams and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and reliable accounting records and effective receivables/payables processes.
- Improve cash\-flow, expenditure and fleet\-cost monitoring.
- Provide accurate management reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
- Maintain appropriate internal controls and reliable information for commercial decision\-making.

Pay: £25,420\.00\-£40,500\.00 per year
