Accounts & Finance Manager
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Manager on behalf of our construction client based in Warrington to oversee the group’s financial operations.
The group is recruiting due to expansion and are looking for the right candidate to grow with them as they continue to build on their existing success.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a comprehensive understanding of financial management, accounting, and planning. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to strategic decision\-making and ensure the organisation’s financial health and compliance.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the smooth running of the finance department including providing assistance and guidance to other members of the team, providing monthly management account information and assisting the Directors with budgeting and forecasts to aid decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly management accounts including processing relevant journals to the accounting software, maintaining an up\-to\-date fixed asset register and other relevant balance sheet schedules
- Produce finance papers for board meetings
- Preparing annual budgets and cashflow forecasts
- Reviewing and filing quarterly VAT returns for three companies
- Assisting with finance related customer enquiries via telephone and email
- Ensuring all systems and procedures are being followed including correct authorisation of invoices and payments
- Preparing monthly supplier payment runs via BACS for the Directors to authorise
- Supply weekly and monthly payroll information on a timely basis to external payroll provider
- Assisting the finance team with bookkeeping, invoicing, bank reconciliation and credit control queries
- Ad\-hoc office administration as and when required
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Experience of working with Sage applications
- At least 3 years’ experience of working in a finance management role
- Good Microsoft Office Skills including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Experience of preparing budgets, cashflows and forecasts in excel
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident telephone manner in particular with Credit Control
- Must be a good communication both written and verbal
- Ability to write correspondence confidently and accurately
- Must maintain strict professionalism and confidentiality in relation to the work undertaken
- Liaising with external accountants for year end process
- Must work to deadlines and respond in a flexible way to the changing demands of workload
- Excellent Organisational Skills including the ability to plan, organize and manage own workload
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with member companies and to be able to work within a small, high\-pressured team with the upmost levels of respect
- Finance: 3 years (required)
- Experience of Sage (required)
- Worked within the construction industry (desired)
Starting from £45,000 negotiable on experience
Work location
Office based (main place of work is Warrington)
May be asked to attend other sites within the group in the Manchester area
