We are seeking an AAT Qualified Accounts Associate to join our Chester office on a full\-time basis. Reporting directly to the Director, the successful candidate will be AAT qualified, with a minimum of three years’ experience within an accountancy practice, and hold a full UK driving licence. This opportunity is ideal for an individual looking for a hands\-on, client\-facing role within a dynamic and growing firm, based in a modern office located in the heart of the city centre.

Job Purpose

To support the delivery of high\-quality accountancy services by managing a varied portfolio of bookkeeping, accounts, and tax tasks while building strong client relationships and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supporting Managers in delivering a high\-quality service to clients.

  • The role will primarily involve a combination of bookkeeping, VAT return preparation, and the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies, alongside corporation tax computations and returns.

  • Assisting with personal tax matters where required.

  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with both clients and colleagues across the practice.

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal procedures.

  • Using accounting software on a daily basis including IRIS, Sage, Xero and QuickBooks.

  • Completing work to a consistently high standard and within agreed deadlines.

  • Responding to client queries promptly and efficiently.

  • Undertaking any other duties as required, in line with the responsibilities of the role.
Requirements
  • Established accountant with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a practice environment

  • AAT qualified with excellent practical experience of bookkeeping and accounts.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to successfully communicate with people at all levels, both financial and non\-financial.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good working knowledge of Sage, Xero, IRIS and Microsoft.

  • Works as part of a team.

  • Confidently able to offer recommendations and advice to our clients.

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.

  • A full UK driving licence is essential.

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £27,600 to £33,900 per year dependent upon experience

Hours: 37\.5 hours per week Monday to Friday

Location: Chester office. Please note that on‑site parking is not available at this office.

Pay: £26,700\.00\-£33,900\.00 per year
