Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Account Manager \& Payroll Officer to join our practice on a part‑time basis. This role is ideal for someone with experience in an accountancy practice who is looking to broaden their skills and take on a varied workload.
We welcome applicants who are AAT‑qualified or currently studying AAT, ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA, or a similar accounting qualification.
Key Responsibilities
1\. Payroll
- Prepare weekly and monthly payrolls for a range of clients
- Communicate with clients to ensure payroll information is received on time
- Handle payroll queries and issue/upload payroll reports
- Notify clients of PAYE liabilities due
- Send pension letters, process opt‑outs, and manage pension re‑declarations
- Set up and close payroll schemes with HMRC
- Resolve discrepancies between payroll submissions and HMRC
- Process payrolls mainly on Nomi, with some on Sage
- Bookkeeping for allocated clients
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Prepare accounts to Trial Balance stage for review
- Assist with year‑end accounts work
- Support clients with accounting software queries
- Experience working within an accountancy practice (essential)
- AAT qualified or studying AAT/ACCA/ICAEW/CIMA (preferred)
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping, VAT, and payroll
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident using accounting and payroll software
- Strong communication and client‑service skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
- Support with professional studies and development
