Account Director - Public Sector Infrastructure
About the role
Our Regional Civils business is looking for a commercially driven and relationship\-focused Account Director to support and grow our relationships across public sector infrastructure markets in the South of England.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you will take ownership of building long\-term partnerships across civil engineering programmes, particularly within highways, coastal and flood defence. You’ll play a pivotal role in securing future work, guiding opportunities from early engagement through to successful conversion, while maintaining strong alignment between customer needs and delivery capability.
The role can be based from any of our hub offices across the South of England, with hybrid working and travel as required.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and deliver business development strategy for your area or sector, aligned to regional and UK\-wide objectives
- Build and maintain strong, multi\-level relationships with key customers and stakeholders
- Develop and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities across frameworks and competitive bids
- Drive high\-value selling approaches to improve win rates and strengthen customer engagement
- Own and evolve account plans, including regular performance reviews and insight\-led actions
- Partner with Work Winning teams to shape compelling value propositions and support successful bids
- Oversee opportunity capture planning, ensuring effective handover and continuity through the bid lifecycle
- Monitor market trends and identify new opportunities, customers and partnerships
- Provide accurate pipeline reporting and contribute to forecasting and budget delivery
- Lead, coach and develop account management teams to enhance capability and performance
- Experience in account management, client development or business development within civil engineering
- Exposure to highways, coastal or flood defence programmes
- A good understanding of pre\-construction processes, including early contractor involvement, cost planning, buildability, risk management and framework procurement
- Familiarity with public sector organisations such as National Highways, Environment Agency, or Local Authorities
- Commercial awareness and the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders
- Results\-driven, collaborative and resilient, with a proactive and positive approach
