We’re seeking a knowledgeable and engaged accounting professional qualified to minimum AAT Level 3 or similar and with proven experience to join our lovely team here in Bentham.

We’re independent Mercedes Unimog specialists (A Unimog is a sort of cross between and truck and a tractor). We have a great reputation established over 48 years and we trade globally.

You’ll be working independently as we don’t have an accounting team although there will be some handover with our current accounts manager.

We are a small close\-knit team so it’s vitally important that you can support colleagues with queries and work with the team e.g. during price reviews and stock taking.

You’ll also work closely with the Director to provide management information, cash flow forecasts and to assist with financial decision making.

You’ll need a good eye for detail to pick up on discrepancies and must have the wherewithal to challenge them.

You don’t have to know all the answers on day one but you must be resourceful enough to find those answers.

We use Sage 50 Accounts and Sage 50 Payroll so experience with these packages is valuable.

Some knowledge of import and export processes and VAT implications would be a great advantage.

The roles and responsibilities include:

Day to day accounting duties using Sage 50 Accounts including:

Input supplier invoices \& check against order system liaising with colleagues as required.

Reconcile Supplier statements

Monthly supplier payment runs \& Ad hoc payments. Some international payments via bank and currency broker including currency conversion on Sage.

Manage Utility accounts

Input incoming payments and notify sales team

Monitor customer invoices and debtors.

Bank \& credit card reconciliations

Bank account maintenance and point of contact for bank.

Petty cash

Payroll:

Monthly payroll (Sage 50\) including pensions \& PAYE. Checking timesheet data and absences.

HMRC/VAT:

Monthly VAT return including Postponed VAT on imports

Import formalities including customs declarations (with brokers), duty and NOVA applications.

Management accounting including:

Cashflow forecasts

Reliable monthly accounts

Analysing figures with Director and offering suggestions to improve profitability

Prepare end of year accounts for external Accountants and liaise with them to resolve queries.

Assist colleagues with stock values and work in progress

Review cost and sales prices on internal stock system.

Liaise with team for annual stock take.

General:

Supporting the team when required.
