Pay Rate: £140 - £230 per day (Depending on experience / MPS equivalent)

We are a leading education recruitment agency working on behalf of a fantastic primary school in Stevenage to recruit a dedicated Year 2 Teacher. This is a full-time, 5-days-a-week position covering a maternity leave, starting in September 2026 and running until July 2027.
The school boasts a warm, community-driven ethos, excellent resources, and a highly collaborative KS1 team. It's an incredibly welcoming environment where agency staff are treated as part of the permanent family.
Key Responsibilities • Full teaching responsibilities for a Year 2 class, including planning, delivering, and marking engaging lessons aligned with the National Curriculum.
- Track pupil progress and utilize assessments effectively to ensure all children reach their full potential.
- Create a positive, nurturing, and structured classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with the parallel Year 2 class teacher for shared PPA and planning.
- Maintain strong, professional partnerships with parents, support staff, and leadership.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
- Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Year 2 experience and knowledge of end-of-key-stage expectations is highly desirable).
- Strong knowledge of Phonics screening and early reading strategies.
- Excellent behavior management skills rooted in positive reinforcement.
- Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
