Yard / Plant Operative - Rotating weekly shifts (Mon - Fri)

Overview of the role:

As a Yard Operative / General Operative you will be responsible for tasks including; the loading and unloading of containers and curtain siders, recycling sorting, conducting machine checks, using plant machinery such as a Fork Lift, Loading shovel or 360, liaising with the Weighbridge team, ensuring good site housekeeping and general yard duties.

Hours:

40 \+ the opportunity for overtime (Weekdays and weekends)

Rotating weekly shift pattern:

Week 1 \- Mon \- Fri 6am \- 2pm

Week 2 \- Mon \- Fri 2pm \- 10pm

Salary: £13\.39 per hour with a £10 shift allowance.

Enhanced rates for weekend work.

What we’ll need from you:

You must

\- hold a current licence for a Forklift truck and/or other plant machinery such as Loading shovel, 360 etc .

\- have previous experience in using an FLT or other plant machinery in a workplace environment.

\- have awareness and understanding of Health \& safety procedures on an industrial site.

\- Ideally have experience working in the recycling industry.

\- Have yard experience

What you’ll be doing as a Yard Operative / General Operative

The main tasks of this role include, but are not limited to:

\- Loading and unloading containers and curtain siders using a Fork Lift Truck

\- Ensuring machinery and plant equipment are in good working order

\- Undertaking daily checks on work areas and plant machinery

\- Removing non\-conforming materials from material bought to site

\- Rotating stock around the site

\- Ensuring good site housekeeping, including, the cleaning of the yard

\- Ensuring Health \& safety regulations are adhered to

\- Ensuring the company’s environmental polices and procedures are adhered to

\- Liaising with the Weighbridge operator to understand daily inbound/outbound material and stock levels

\- Any other reasonable tasks as directed by the manager
