Yard Operative

Hours \- Monday to Friday 7:00am to 4:30pm plus every 2nd Saturday 8:00am to 12noon

This is a key role serving customers and dealing with goods in promptly, it is a busy and varied job, and every day can be different. The successful applicant will have excellent customer care, solid knowledge of products sold by a Timber and Builders Merchants and able to work as part of team or using their own initiative. Salary dependent on experience and age.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Assisting customers with their orders· Providing excellent customer service· Picking and checking orders· Maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.· Unloading vehicles, check materials against documentation, and store material according to agreed processes· Loading vehicles, checking materials against relevant documentation, according to agreed processes· Loading may be by hand or using a forklift truck· Reporting high or low stock holdings to Procurement team

You will work as part of our external team of staff. Most of your time would be spent outdoors in the yard. The work can be physically demanding at times. There is always plenty to do and a variety of jobs, so it is important the candidate can use initiative and is able to manage their time. Interacting with customers and making sure they are assisted in a professional manner.
