Yard Operative

This role is working 6am \- 2pm Monday \- Friday

£12\.72 per hour

Purpose: As the Operative (Yard) you will be required to work on your own initiative with guidance available when required from the Senior Team Leader.

The purpose of this role is to, unload and neatly stack palletised goods and ensure stock rotation.

The job is performed mainly in an external environment and is subject to external weather conditions.

• To work on own initiative with guidance as required.


• To carryout tasks as trained.


• Weighbridge cover as needed


• Not to undertake any tasks where training has not taken place.


• To undertake operational checks for any faults prior to using the forklift truck and record on the relevant FLT check sheet, highlighting any issues to the Senior Team Leader.


• The Operative (Yard) is responsible for the safe unloading of palletised goods on site. This is to include lorry drivers being in their cabs or away from their vehicle in a safe area whilst the FLT is moving.


• To ensure all pallets are correctly labelled before being put into stock.


• To arrange movement of trailers as required with the Shunter Driver.


• To keep the Micro Dosing plant and Blending stocked up as required during the shift.


• Keep accurate records of stock movements as required.


• To rotate stock to ensure oldest stock is used up first.


• To carry out accurate stocktakes as and when required.


• Maintain regular communication with the Senior Team Leader, the Raw Material Planner and the Mill Team Leader as required.


• To work in a manner that promotes the health and safety of oneself and others.


• To report any health and safety issues to your immediate manager.


• To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within your area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.


• Keep all work areas clean and tidy.


• Any other duties that are required.
