Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE

Our client is a growing equipment business looking for an experienced Workshop Engineer to join their established workshop team in Sheffield. This is primarily a depot-based position, with occasional breakdown and field support when required.

The role would suit an experienced engineer with a strong mechanical and electrical background who has worked on powered access, plant, forklifts or similar equipment. You don't need experience across the full range of machinery, as training and additional manufacturer/licence training can be provided for the right candidate.

Overview • Carry out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs across a varied range of plant and equipment.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and related faults.

  • Work on equipment including powered access, forklifts, compressors, generators, welders, Avant loaders and small plant.

  • Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure equipment remains safe and reliable.

  • Attend occasional breakdowns when required.

  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and drawings.

  • Complete accurate service records and repair documentation.

  • Assist with the assembly, modification and preparation of new equipment.

  • Work closely with the workshop team to maintain high standards of safety and equipment reliability.

Requirements • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Workshop Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, Powered Access Engineer, Forklift Engineer or similar.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.

  • Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulics and plant machinery.

  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently.

  • Experience with welding/fabrication would be advantageous.

  • Comfortable using hand and power tools.

  • Able to interpret technical schematics and manuals.

  • Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.

  • Strong commitment to health & safety.

  • CAP/Powered Access qualifications are not essential, with training available for the right candidate.

  • Looking for someone with solid experience who is keen to develop and build a long-term career with the business.

Working Hours Week 1: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Week 2: Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 5:00pm
Friday, 7:30am - 2:00pm
