Wellbeing Practitioner: Children and Young People Trainees (12 months)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Child Action North West (CANW) as a Trainee Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CYWP). We are recruiting to a new cohort of training posts linked to the Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence‑Based Interventions, commencing September 2026 as part of the Children and Young People’s Psychological Therapies (CYP PT) Programme.

About the role

CYWP trainees deliver low intensity psychological interventions for children and young people experiencing anxiety, depression, and behavioural difficulties, including guided self help within community settings.

Training is delivered by the Psychological Therapies Training Centre (PTTC) in collaboration with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) and the University of Manchester.

  • Trainees attend university two days per week

  • The remaining three days are spent working within CANW services

  • Posts are aligned to NHS Band 4 (or equivalent)
Who We’re Looking For

  • Have experience working with children and young people

  • Hold a degree or can demonstrate academic equivalence

  • Have the motivation and aptitude to undertake postgraduate level study

  • Are passionate about improving the wellbeing of young people in our communities

Interviews will take place on 18 June 2026 at CANW Headquarters, Buckshaw Village, Chorley. The selection process will include:

  • A structured interview

  • A short role play exercise relevant to the CYWP role
