Sheng Yip Ltd is a food production company that makes dumplings, spring rolls and dim sum for restaurants and wholesalers. We’ve been doing this for over 15 years and the factory is based in Woolwich near the Thames Barrier.
Job Description \- Warehouse Manager
Warehouse managers oversee the efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of a range of goods
As a warehouse manager, you are responsible for a vital part of the supply chain process. You'll manage people, processes and systems in order to ensure goods are received, stored and dispatched appropriately, and that productivity targets are met.
You'll also be responsible for workplace health and safety standards and for the security of the building and stock such as temperature\-controlled food products.
Responsibilities
As a warehouse manager, you'll need to:
- coordinate and monitor the receipt, order, assembly and dispatch of stock, ensuring that goods and stock flow safely, smoothly and consistently in and out of the warehouse facility to customers
- ensure that quality and environmental objectives are met
- coordinate the use of automated and computerised systems to optimise efficiency \-mainly the Notazone system
- keep stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate
- optimise storage space and plan future capacity requirements
- supervise warehouse staff, assigning tasks and monitoring their performance andprogress to ensure productivity and quality targets are met
- implement and maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in thework environment, for example, ensuring that stock such as chemicals and food arestored safely
- oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment
- where appropriate, oversee the maintenance and operation of warehousemanagement systems and automated storage and retrieval systems
- have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how thewarehouse contributes to these.
Working hours typically include early starts 8am \- 4pm, and occasionally weekends.
Requirements
The skills that we are looking for include:
- Basic English reading and numeracy skills are required though no formal qualifications are required.
- Clean driver’s license.
- Understanding of information systems.
- 1\-2 years experience in transport, distribution or logistics in a warehouseenvironment
- Potentially learn how to use a forklift
You'll need to have:
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- numeracy and an understanding of stock management
- people management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team of people, delegate work and explain ideas
- teamworking skills
- planning and organising skills to effectively manage the flow of stock
- accuracy and attention to detail

- technical and IT skills, particularly when it comes to database management
- problem\-solving skills and the ability to work on a tactical and strategic level
- the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- a flexible approach to work as many warehouses operate shift pattern
