Venue Manager – pour. \| Ruddington

At pour., we're more than just a wine bar. We're an independent venue built around great wine, craft beer, speciality coffee and genuinely warm hospitality. We're proud of the community we've built and are looking for someone who wants to become a big part of its future. This is a key operational role working closely with the owners. We're looking for someone we can trust to take ownership of the day\-to\-day running of the venue, maintain the high standards our customers expect and ensure everything runs smoothly whether or not we're on site. A key part of this role is giving us confidence that the venue is in safe hands during holidays, events and busy trading periods. You'll enjoy making decisions, solving problems, planning ahead and creating a brilliant experience for both customers and the team. Please note: Regular Friday and Saturday evening availability is essential. If you're unable to work these shifts, this role won't be the right fit. This role would suit an experienced Supervisor, Assistant Manager or Venue Manager looking for genuine responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to help shape a growing independent business.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading shifts and overseeing the day\-to\-day running of the venue.

Taking ownership of the operation, ensuring everything runs smoothly whether or not the owners are on site.

Planning ahead so shifts, events, staffing, stock and operational requirements are fully prepared in advance.

Making confident day\-to\-day operational decisions and resolving issues quickly, calmly and professionally.

Acting as the first point of contact for staffing matters, including rotas, sickness absence, arranging appropriate shift cover and escalating where required.

Opening and closing the venue, including cash handling and reconciliation.

Preparing and serving drinks, coffee and food, including our charcuterie boards.

Delivering exceptional customer service and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every guest.

Maintaining outstanding standards of cleanliness, food safety, compliance and presentation throughout the venue, including our tasting room and garden areas.

Managing stock levels, completing stock takes, placing orders, receiving deliveries and maintaining accurate stock records.

Using our EPOS back office to maintain products, pricing, stock levels and reporting.

Changing kegs and maintaining our draught systems, including weekly beer line cleaning.

Supporting online orders and customer collections.

Coordinating the operational delivery of events, ensuring staffing, stock, setup, timings, customer communication and venue standards are all ready before guests arrive.

Creating engaging social media content in the pour. tone of voice.

Continually looking for ways to improve the business, customer experience and team performance.

About You

You're someone who enjoys being the person others rely on. You're organised, calm under pressure and naturally think several steps ahead. You don't wait to be told what needs doing—you notice it, take ownership and see it through.

Previous management, supervisory or assistant management experience in hospitality.

A genuine passion for wine. You don't need to know everything, but we'd love someone who's a bit of a wine geek and excited to keep learning—we're always happy to help develop your knowledge.

Excellent barista skills.

Experience with draught beer systems and cellar operations.

Food service experience and good kitchen awareness.

Confidence using EPOS systems, including back\-office functions such as product maintenance, pricing, stock management and reporting.

IT literate. You can manage our events diary \& table bookings system with ease.

Level 2 Food Hygiene (minimum); Level 3 desirable.

An appreciation of great craft beer and independent producers.

Outstanding organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail. You enjoy planning ahead, keeping everything organised and making sure nothing gets missed.

Confidence making sound decisions, using good judgement and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.

Comfortable leading the venue and maintaining standards without needing constant direction from the owners.

A positive, collaborative leadership style and a willingness to support and develop others.

A proactive mindset and genuine pride in delivering consistently high standards.

We've worked hard to build a friendly, supportive culture. We're looking for someone who wants to become a trusted part of the business—not someone who simply turns up for their shift.
