Job Summary
---------------

The Urgent Care CSU have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised individual who enjoys the challenge of working in an environment where no two days are the same, to join the Emergency Department Administration Management Team.

The successful candidate will act as the first\-line manager for a team of clerical staff, providing effective day\-to\-day supervision and ensuring a professional, efficient and welcoming service across the Emergency Department Reception and Ward Clerk teams.

Key responsibilities will include monitoring staffing and stock levels to ensure service demands are met, supervising and supporting clerical staff, and providing training in all aspects of patient administration and customer service. The post holder will work closely with medical, nursing and administrative colleagues across the Urgent Care service to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of front\-of\-house and administrative services.

The Emergency Department Reception and Ward Clerk service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The successful applicant will therefore be required to work across both Emergency Departments at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and St James’s University Hospital (SJUH), covering all aspects of the adults and paediatric Emergency Departments.

The role will involve working Monday to Sunday as part of a shift\-based rota. The ability and willingness to work across both sites is essential.

Flexibility is an important requirement of the role. Where necessary, the post holder will be expected to provide additional cover to meet the needs of the service, including working weekends and Bank Holidays and responding to short\-notice staffing requirements arising from sickness or emergency annual leave.

What you will bring to the role
-----------------------------------

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills and will be able to work effectively as part of a busy multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to manage your own workload, use initiative, prioritise competing demands and work effectively to tight deadlines.

A strong commitment to providing a welcoming, efficient, professional and caring service to patients and their families is essential. You should be confident when dealing with members of the public and able to communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues in potentially challenging and busy situations.

Excellent IT skills are required, together with a good working knowledge of patient administration systems. Previous experience of the Emergency Department Symphony system would be advantageous; however, full training can be provided for the successful candidate.

We welcome applications from enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who are looking for the opportunity to become part of our busy, friendly and supportive Emergency Department team.
